Seven reasons to watch through Megacubo instead of a website

1. The miniplayer keeps the stream over your work

Minimise the window, or press Ctrl+M, and the channel keeps playing in a small window that stays on top of everything. It can be resized from its edges and dragged anywhere on the screen, which is the difference between watching something and stopping everything to watch something.

It is a desktop feature: on Android the application is meant for the phone and for the TV box, where the window on top of other windows does not exist.

2. No advertising added by the program

Megacubo does not insert advertising in the interface or over the video. If an advertisement shows up while a channel is playing, it comes from the source — the playlist or the stream that you or a provider chose — and not from the player.

The distinction matters: a player that adds nothing still shows what the stream carries. What the application gives you is control over what to open, and the address of the lists is yours to keep or replace.

3. Favourites and the number shortcut

With a channel open, Ctrl+D adds it to the favourites and the same key removes it. Opening the program and going straight to the list is the daily use: the favourites screen also lets you add a channel by name, see the last one watched and remove what you no longer want.

Each favourite gets a number, and typing that number opens the channel from anywhere in the program.

4. One search for every playlist

F3 searches across the lists you have added, which is what makes a collection of community playlists usable: instead of opening site after site looking for a channel, you type the name and the program shows what exists among the sources you kept.

5. Who else is watching

Where the source publishes an audience figure, the program shows it, with about a minute of delay. It is a curiosity that became a way of choosing: two channels showing the same thing stop being identical when one of them says how many people are there.

6. Recording the stream (Premium)

Recording what is playing takes one click — no looking for links and no extra programs — but it is not part of the free application: recording is one of the features of the optional Premium licence, bought once and valid for life. Nothing about watching depends on it: without the licence the application stays complete for playing lists and live channels.

7. Sending it to the TV (Premium)

Casting is the other Premium feature and it works with Chromecast and with DLNA devices: connect the device to the TV, open the content, click the three-dot icon in the player controls and choose to cast. It plays on the TV from the moment you send it — a video from your computer or a live channel.
